Hurricane Humberto Update

Somebody Cares America is in the process of collecting assessments of the needs in Southeast Texas after Hurricane Humberto suddenly developed in the Gulf and hit the coast on Wednesday. Humberto went from a tropical depression to a Category 1 hurricane in only 14 hours.

According to Bryan Pressley from Somebody Cares Southeast Texas, Humberto left "considerable damage" in the Port Arthur, Orange, Nederland, and Bridge City Areas. Over 100,000 homes were without power on Wednesday night, and 70,000 were still without power yesterday. "Quite a few people have been displaced," Bryan said.

"As we gather assessments," says SCA president Doug Stringer, "our first priority will be to empower local churches in the area."
If you would like to contribute to the relief needs in Southeast Texas, you may donate online at www.somebodycares.org and make sure to note "Humberto Relief" in the memo, or you may send a donation to SCA at PO Box 570007, Houston TX 77257. SCA will continue to send updates as we receive them.
